Purpose
If you want to connect your camera to your computer via USB, you need to install a driver called RNDIS. “The Remote Network Driver Interface Specification (RNDIS) is a Microsoft proprietary protocol used mostly on top of USB*. It provides a virtual Ethernet link to most versions of the Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD operating systems”.
Here is the link to Chronos’ RNDIS Driver Installation Guide
If you are using windows 11, you need to do a few extra steps though. This is because, as you can see on page 3, windows 11 does not list under the device manager the USB serial device (COM 36).
Take the following steps to add the USB port manually.
1) Open the “Device Manager”, type device manager in the search tab located in the Taskbar
2) Under the Action menu select “Add legacy hardware”
3) Select “Next” to start the hardware wizard
4) Next, select “Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)” and click “Next”
5) Select “Ports (COM & LPT)"
6) On the left side select “Microsoft”, click “Next"
7) And on the right side select “USB Serial Modem Device”, then click “Next”
8) You are almost there, click “Next” to install your hardware
9) After this is done, check if the “USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget” item appears under Network adapters. If not, refresh your device manager. Under Action, select “Scan for hardware changes”
10) Look for the “USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget”, right click and
11) Right click on this item and select ”Update driver”
