Enabling VLC Player Access Through a Firewall for Chronos Network Streaming

Chronos cameras are able to stream live and recorded high-speed footage over the network using the RTSP protocol. VLC Player is a common and free video player capable of opening RTSP streams, but can require updated firewall settings when running in Windows.

To allow VLC to go through the firewall, please follow the next steps:

  • From the start button in windows select Settings

  • From setting click on Privacy and security

Then, under Privacy and security, click on Firewall and network protection

Next, click on Allow app through firewall

Select the fields that correspond to VLC media player on private and public networks

Test to see if the live footage of your camera can be seen on VLC
